Oat Bread ... A Healthy, High Protein Bread Alternative

Oat and Yogurt Bread


Trying to avoid all those highly processed breads on our supermarket shelves? Well here is a great healthy alternative that is far more nutritious and a “meal” of a bread that will keep you fuller longer. Oat Bread has only three ingredients: oats, yogurt and an egg. All natural and all nutritious. Add a little honey if you like to sweeten it up but it is beautifully sweet as it is!

The other great thing about this bread is anyone can make it. Even the complete “non-baker” is guaranteed to make a success of this one … No equipment and no experience needed!

Ingredients

  • 500ml of natural live yoghurt

  • 1 egg beaten

  • 1 tbsp. honey (optional)

  • 300g Oats

  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Method

1. Put the yoghurt, beaten egg and honey in a bowl and mix

2. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add to the yogurt mixture and stir well

3. Place in a greased or parchment lined loaf tin, sprinkle with oats and bake at 180°C for 30 minutes and then lower the temperature to 150°C for a further 30 minutes.

4. Leave to cool in the tin. When cool gently remove from the tin, slice and enjoy.

The bread freezes very well so very handy to slice and wrap in batches to grab and go when needed.
