A productive hour in the kitchen ... Three recipes
I am a firm believer in using food preparation time cleverly. If you're making a meal that involves chopping, mixing, slicing.... (and all the mess that goes with it!) .... have 2 or 3 recipes on the go. Today I made some falafels and while they were in the oven I quickly washed the food processor and threw in the ingredients for a batch of almond, oat scones and followed by a batch of wholemeal oat biscuits. One hours food preparation (and only one clean up) and I've enough healthy snacks in the freezer for the next couple of weeks! Most of the recipes I post are easy enough for a novice cook, so next time you are preparing a meal, choose 1-2 of my healthy snacks and get smart with your time in the kitchen!
Wholemeal Oat Biscuits
150 grams Oats
150 grams wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
100 grams live natural yogurt
3-4 tablespoons of honey (or 75 grams of sugar)
50 grams butter
1 good tablespoon of cashew nut butter
Makes about 15-18
Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Put all the ingredients in a food processor and mix well. Using your hands, form biscuit shapes with the dough and place on a baking tray covered in baking paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let fully cool before transferring to a container/plate... or eating! Freeze very well.
Three simple steps to oven baked falafels ... chickpeas, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander and olive oil into the food processor, shape and place on baking paper, bake at 180 degrees Celcius for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
